Munpia

Munpia is the hub platform for male-oriented fantasy and martial arts, known for free-board works going paid and Korea's largest contest, which bans AI drafts.

Also written as: munpia.com

Meaning

Munpia is the central web novel platform for male-oriented genres: fantasy, martial arts and modern fantasy. It grew out of a martial-arts community into a structure of free board, general board and paid serialization, and "start on Munpia, move to KakaoPage" became the standard course for male-oriented web fiction. A work on the free board that clears view and favorite thresholds can apply for conversion, after which per-episode billing and settlement begin. Its annual contest is among the country's largest in prize money and entries, and its rules explicitly state that generative AI may not be used.

Why it matters

For writers of male-oriented fiction, Munpia is where the data is most honest. Its readership is genre-literate and quick to respond, and per-episode view counts are public, so you can compute your own read-through. The industry rule of thumb is that a work that succeeds on Munpia succeeds on the major platforms, which is why publisher and management scouts watch the top of the free board constantly. The contest is the newcomer's gateway and the route to becoming a Munpia official writer. The rules of Munpia serialization are clear: around 5,000 characters with spaces per episode, daily posting, the genre's promise within five episodes. And anyone entering the contest must check the AI policy. Munpia's rules name manuscripts made with generative AI as subject to exclusion from judging and revocation of awards, and the rule extends to cover illustrations.

Example

Taehyun posted a hunter story on Munpia's free board and logged per-episode views daily.

Ep. 1: 3,100 / 2: 2,200 / 3: 2,000 / 4: 1,950 / 5: 1,900 ... 15: 1,700 / 16: 1,690.

1-to-2 was 71 percent; after that, 97 to 99 percent per episode. Almost no drop-off through 15. He crossed the conversion threshold at 22. Before applying he checked three things: the settlement split, the number of free episodes (settled on 25), and the cut at paid episode one.

The purchase conversion at paid episode one was 61 percent. Not a bad number by Munpia norms.

Common mistakes

  • Posting female-oriented genres on Munpia. Rofan does not match Munpia's readership. Joara or another platform fits better.
  • Taking the contest's AI policy lightly. "May not be used" is broad. Ask the organizer where use begins.
  • Breaking the posting rhythm. Munpia's readers and algorithm remember daily works. Do not start without a stockpile.
